Chevrons gear up for Bangladesh tri-series

The Zimbabwe national cricket team has stepped up preparations for the triangular series in Bangladesh involving the hosts and Sri Lanka following a humiliating defeat by South Africa during the day and night test in Port Elizabeth.
The Zimbabwe squad is scheduled to leave for Bangladesh tomorrow.
The tour will be a critical test for Zimbabwe as they step up their preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup qualifier 2018 event which they will host in March.
Uncapped former Zimbabwe under-19 stars, Brandon Mavuta and Ryan Murray have been included for the triangular series in Bangladesh while Blessing Muzarabani, who made his test debut for Zimbabwe against South Africa on boxing day, is also in line to get his first one-day international cap after he was included in the 15-man squad.
There are also changes to the technical team after bowling coach Makhaya Ntini stepped down and Douglas Hondo bounces back while Walter Chawaguta also returns to the fold as fielding coach.
Zimbabwe Cricket captain Graeme Cremer said his side, had put the day night test defeat behind and are looking forward to series and shorter version of the game.
In the tri-series, Zimbabwe will play Bangladesh in the first match on 15 January, before Heath Streak’s charges face Sri Lanka two days later.
After taking on Sri Lanka again on 21 January, Zimbabwe will have a day’s rest before entertaining Bangladesh for the second time while the final is scheduled for 27 January.
All matches will be day-night games and will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.
The Chevrons will be banking on the experience of Hamilton Masakadza, Brendan Taylor, Sikandar Raza Butt, Craig Ervine, Christopher Mpofu and Kyle Jarvis.
The Zimbabwe team comprises Hamilton Masakadza, Solomon Mire, Craig Ervine, Sikandar Raza Butt, Peter J Moor, Malcolm Waller, Graeme Cremer, Ryan Murray, Tendai Chisoro, Brendan Mavuta, Blesing Muzarabai, Christopher Mpofu, Tendai Chatara and Kyle Jarvis.
