Milton High School was the first government all-boys school established in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Founded in 1910 and named after Sir William Milton, and administrator of the British South Africa Company. The school’s motto is Greek and translates it as “Quit ye like men”
The school was established in 25 July 1910 by Sir William and Lady Eveline Milton in combination with Milton Junior. The Headmaster was Mr de Bee, and he remained there until 1927 when the senior part of the school was moved to its present premises along Leopold Takawira Avenue in Suburbs.
The school has always been considered as an ‘A’ school among government schools. It is widely known for promoting holistic learning with the incorporation of a lot of sports in their curriculum. The school has also has bad press with reports of extreme bullying of form one boys by seniors.
