What England players were doing as Croatia celebrated Mandzukic’s goal

England’s World Cup dream came to an end against Croatia.
The Three Lions, who surprised fans and pundits around the globe by reaching the semi-finals of this summer’s tournament in Russia, came up short in Moscow on Wednesday, and were beaten 2-1 in extra time.
But then sat back and attempted to defend their advantage, as Croatia dominated in the middle of the park, before equalising through Inter MIlan winger Ivan Perisic in the second half.
English hearts were broken in extra time when Mario Mandzukic netted the all-important winner for Croatia.
The Three Lions struggled to mount a positive response.
Devoid of ideas, England abandoned playing out from the back and instead attempted to pump balls into the flanks for Marcus Rashford to latch onto.
In truth the Three Lions never looked like scoring again, but it turns out the players did have one idea to try and get back into the game.
Fan footage captured what the England players did – or at least tried to do – as Croatia celebrated Mandzukic’s goal.
While the opposition were in a bundle by the side of the pitch, England sprinted to the centre circle with the ball, put it on the spot, and resumed play.
It seems the team were hoping they could catch Croatia off guard and net a quick equaliser, but the referee called them up on it and stopped play.
Panama tried the exact same stunt against England earlier in the World Cup, and were also stopped in their tracks by the match official. — Mirror.
