Sino-Zimbabwe Cement Company
Background
Sino-Zimbabwe Cement Company (SZCC) is a joint business venture between a Chinese Foreign Direct Investment partner, China Building- Material Corporation for Foreign Econo-Technical Co-operation (CBMC), and the Industrial Development Corporation of Zimbabwe Limited (IDC). CBMC contributed 65% of the original funding in the form of modern technology and expertise while the IDC provided land, civil works, as well as highly educated, skilled manpower, coupled with management intimate knowledge of local conditions.
The cement plant started operating in 2001 and has a production capacity of 250 000 tonnes of cement per annum. Currently the company produces two types of cement namely:
Masonry Cement MC 22.5X
Portland Cement (A-M(S) 32.5N)
The cement is produced to International Standard and are both certified by The Standards Association of Zimbabwe. These products are available in the market in competition to those produced by two other local cement producers.
SZCC is a company that strives to provide high quality products and services aimed at improving people’s lives and contributing towards Zimbabwe’s economic growth.
SZCC is situated in the centre of Zimbabwe, about forty kilometres due South East of Gweru, Zimbabwe’s Midlands Provincial capital. The plant is easily accessible from all parts of the country through a good rail and road network and has its own rail siding.
Although located from an urbanized area, the plant has modern facilities to carry business efficiently electricity, reticulated water and telecommunications.

Sino-Zimbabwe Cement Company is a cement plant in Gweru which manufactures Midlands Portland cement and Midlands mansonry cement.
