The Educators ICT Conference is an annual conference that brings together ICT stakeholders in the education sector in Zimbabwe, with the aim of reflecting on how to transfer, diffuse and adopt the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) within the country’s context and promoting the innovation and development of ICT solutions for and within this context. Moreover the conference will also focus on other relevant normative, empirical, and theoretical concerns of ICT integration into education ranging from awareness, adoption, utilization and application that are distinctive to Zimbabwean socio-economic environment.
The conference therefore seeks to bring together ICT educators across all levels of education under the theme “awakening the spirit of ICT Innovation for sustainable development” to present papers that among others, interrogate issues on the appropriate and effective integration of ICTs into education, concepts and ideas on innovative use of ICT to improve the quality of education by making teaching and learning an engaging and active process connected to real life.
The Conference will also create a platform to inform education policy makers and planners on key issues that can contribute to the development of a policy framework for effective integration of ICT into education to improve country’s global competitiveness in education, research and development, administration, governance, and wealth creation. In addition, the conference also creates a forum where participants can disseminate their research to a wide audience of scholars and practitioners of ICT in education in Zimbabwe and beyond. In absolute terms, the conference offers a good opportunity for schools, colleges and universities ICT educators, to get together to discuss opportunities and foster new relationships and collaboration networks.
Expecting over 150 delegates with the larger contingent being ICT educators from schools and high level speakers offering the latest updates around digital technology in learning institutions; ICT Educators Conference 2017 (ICTEC) is the only event to bring ICT education leaders all the necessary updates under one roof, in one day.
