Chinamasa turned down job offer at Biti law firm, says PDP
FORMER finance minister Patrick Chinamasa turned down a job offer at Tendai Biti Law firm, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) revealed this week.
Chinamasa is a trained lawyer and a former Attorney General. He was finance minister between 2013 and last week when he was moved to the newly created Cyber Security portfolio while Biti was in charge of the Treasury between 2008 and 2012.
According to PDP spokesperson, Jacob Mafume, Biti offered Chinamasa a job as a lawyer in the full knowledge that he (Chinamasa) was going to fail at the Treasury but he refused to take the offer.
“PDP, however, has no sympathy for this chap, he must face the music as we warned him that the reptile infested party had no respect for economics and that he would fail, in fact, we even offered him the opportunity to practice law at Tendai Biti Law firm, an offer which he chose not to take,” said Mafume in a statement this week.
According to Mafume, Biti went further and wrote blue prints and asked Chinamasa to adopt PDP’s emergency recovery strategy including a self-explanatory 16 point plan the party published in 2014 and all that fell on deaf ears.
“In an endeavour to save our people, President Biti even made attempts to give him personal advice over the phone on things that would take him at least three years to learn; in his self-importance he rejected the advice.
“In a mere three years Chinamasa plunged this economy into an unprecedented fiscal and financial mess. He redefined failure.”
