Something to remember from ZimPraise festival
Despite the fact that Harare was divided because of pomp and fanfare at the just ended Harare International Carnival, those of gospel feel attended the ZimPraise International Festival that was held at National Sports Stadium.
They had something to remember and take home after a thrilling performances and power inspirational word from highly reputable speakers. The festival which started last Tuesday ended on high note on Saturday with many Christians from various denomination thronging the giant stadium.
Although it started on low, organizers of the festival later made the event free, resulting in thousands attending the closing night. On closing night of the festival, there was a live DVD recording which saw artistes like Matthias Mhere, ZimPraise Kids and senior taking part.
Visiting United States pastor, author and filmmaker Thomas Dexter affectionately known as T.D. Jakes hosted a leadership and business skills seminar last Friday, before making a courtesy call at the First Family.
T.D Jakes then made an appearance on Friday night, where he gave a devotion and prayed for the nation. The festival which was held to mark 10th anniversary celebration saw gospel artistes like Ntokozo Mbambo, Mathias Mhere, Minister Micheal Mahendere, Sir Benjamin, Takesure Zamar and Zimpraise kids and adults performing.
Although it started a bit late because of some technological fault, the event then went according to plan Speakers like Bishop John Francis (United Kingdom), Bishop Tudor Bismark, Dr Aspher Madziyire and Apostle Batsirai Java managed to share word with congregants.
In an interview with ZimPraise chief executive officer Joseph Madziyire said was happy with the festival and urged locals to support such initiative. “This is a milestone in the history of Christianity so far in Zimbabwe. Many people needed the opportunity to see and the same time to bring T.D Jakes in the country and here we are getting the golden opportunity. It is something to remember and cherish at ZimPraise. The festival went according to plan although few glitches here and there but were covered amicably. Let’s us support one another rather demining, trying to destroy what you haven’t built,” he said.
He later apologized to locals and fans for late start on closing night. “We apologized for starting late due to electrical problem at the stadium which was beyond our control but all went well.
“We later saw that some people wanted to attend the festival but because of financial constraints then we decided to make the event free. People should appreciate other people’s efforts. Those attacking on social media should do so with facts. I would like to thank the sponsors, partners and fans who came. It is all about Jesus,” he said.
The event saw pastors, gospel musicians, Government officials and diplomats in attendance.
