Buffalos are bulk grazers, they are responsible for converting long grasslands into short grassy environments conducive to other browsers with more selective feeding habits.
Buffalos are part of the Big Five animals in Zimbabwe which includes the lion, elephant, rhinoceros and the leopard.
Size:
Shoulder height ranges from 1 to 1.7 m and head-and-body length ranges from 1.7 to 3.4 m .The tail measures between 70 to 110 cm long.
Weight:
Buffaloes weigh between 500 to 900 kg, with males normally larger than females, reaching the upper weight range.
Protection Status:
Least Concern
