General Background:
Honeyguides are parasitic birds that lay their eggs in other birds’ nests. Honeyguides love to eat energy-rich wax, and to obtain it they guide human honey-hunters to bees’ nests. There are 17 species worldwide and 6 species which occur in Zimbabwe. The species are the Scaly-throated honeyguide, Greater honeyguide, Lesser honeyguide, Pallid honeyguide, Green-backed honeyguide, Wahlberg’s honeyguide.
