Richard Chemist Hove was a Zimbabwean nationalist, politician and national hero.
Hove was born on September 29 1935, Mberengwa in the Midlands Province of Zimbabwe.
Education:
He received his early education in the Midlands Province at Mivembe School, Munene School, Dadaya High School and Tekwani Secondary School.
Richard Hove left Rhodesia for further education in India and between 1962 and 1966 he was enrolled at the University of Bombay, India.
Career:
He worked for an oil company from 1958 until 1962 when he left Rhodesia to go and study in India.
Political Career:
- Joined ZANU in Lusaka in 1966 and worked at ZANU headquaters in Lusaka between 1966 an 1968
- ZANU Chief Representative for Western Europe (1968-71)
- Member, Dare re Chimurenga (1971)
- Secretary, External Affairs ZANU (1971-73)
- Head (Broadcasting Services, Department of Information Publicity) ZANU (1973)

Richard Hove died on 21 September 2009 and was declared a national hero and accordingly buried at the National Heroes Acre in Harare.
