Borrowdale is an affluent wealthy suburb in north-east Harare.
Background:
Borrowdale was named after Henry Borrow and was the original grant of land to the pioneer company of Johnson, Heany and Borrow. At the time the Borrowdale Estates extended over 2000 hectares.They were later divided into farms, residential plots and commercial stands .
The area is made up of Borrowdale West, Borrowdale, Helensvale, Borrowdale Brooke, Crowhill Views to the North and Pomona. The suburb has a plush shopping area in the centre known as Sam Levy’s Village. A mega church is also located here as well and the famous Borrowdale Race Course. The area is one of the most sought after places to live in Harare. There are private schools within the area which include St. John’s College, St. John’s Preparatory School and The Heritage School, Zimbabwe.
