Makokoba

Makokoba is a suburb located in Bulawayo, the second capital city of Zimbabwe. Makokoba is the oldest high density surburb in the town.

The suburb got its name from the actions of  a gentleman called Mr. Fallon, who is rumoured to have used stick to walk around. The name comes from the word “umakhokhoba” which the locals at the time referred to Fallon as, meaning “the little old man who walks with a stick” . The word actually describes the noise of the stick hitting the ground ko-ko-ko or the doors.
