Location:
The Amadzimba caves are located in the South -Eastern edge of the Matopo Hills, 9 kilometers from the old Gwanda road .
Archaeological Findings:
Large quantities of bone, ivory, shell tools and ornaments belonging to the stone age people. Some tools and beads made from bird bones, others including eyed needles ,pierces, borers , arrow points and link shafts ,had been made from solid bone fragments.
Rock Art:
The rock art in the cave consists of many interesting figures of every style known ,including the outside of a snake, 13m long. Many of the figures have been copied , in white. The painters also depicted trees, an unusual feature in the rock art of Matabeleland. One composition by the later artists, which may depict people collecting honey from clefts in the rock below , is an interesting development in rock art.
