Vic Falls agric show begins

Dubbed the people’s show, the 2017 edition of the Victoria Falls Agricultural Show has roared into life, with expectations that the platform will contribute to the empowerment of small holder farmers with requisite modern farming methods.
The Victoria Falls Agricultural Show Society is hosting the second edition of the fair with this year’s exhibition focusing of strategies to revolutionalise rural economies through agro-innovations.
There were few activities on day one with most exhibitors setting up their exhibition stands. There are expectations that serious business will begin on Thursday.
Small holder farmers and other exhibitors are hopeful of meaningful business synergies and adoption of strategies to revitalise the province’s agriculture value chain.
High on the agenda is the need to consolidate gains made in the agricultural sector and harnessing modern technologies to improve yields.
This year’s edition comes at a time the country has witnessed a strong performance by the agricultural sector which saw most communal farmers around Victoria Falls recording improved maize, sorghum and finger millet yields.
