Pokello Nare

She is the stepdaughter of a Zimbabwean Minister, Ignatius Chombo and the biological daughter of a retired colonel George Nare.

Before her rise to fame on the show, Pokello was known for being the girl who featured in the infamous Stunner sex tape. Stunner, who is one of the most successful rappers in Zimbabwe, was her boyfriend at the time. 

Early Life

According to Colonel Nare, Pokello is of royal descent, the Babirwa Clan in the lineage of Sikoba Morole, the chief of the Babirwas, who is now based in Botswana. The family is of Sotho origin and came from Manama in the rural Gwanda in Matabeleland South.

Pokello, however, was born and bred in Harare. She attended Alexandra Park Primary School where she was heavily involved in sports. She went to Kyle College for her High School and proceeded to Monarch University in South Africa for her tertiary education where she studied Business Management and Media. Here she was one of the only 2 females in the Student Representative Council (SRC)

Sex tape

In 2010, a sex tape of Pokello and her then-boyfriend, Stunner was leaked to the public and caused an outrage among Zimbabweans. Stunner claims the sex tape was probably leaked by one of his friends as he usually leaves them with his phone when he goes on stage to perform so that they can take pictures and record him. This ruined the reputation of the minister’s daughter,  bringing shame to her family. It was speculated that she had leaked it so as to gain fame and success just like a sex tape had brought eventual fame and success for international reality star Kim Kardashian. She was perceived as a person of loose morals.

Her family, however, defended her in public and confirmed that the tape was not meant for public consumption and the person who leaked it was guilty of character assassination.

Business

Pokello has a passion for fashion which saw her opening the store ‘Addicted 2 Shoes’ in Zimbabwe’s most premium shopping mall located in Harare, Sam’s Levy Village in 2011. The socialite-turned-businesswoman also opened another branch in a Chinese themed mall also in Harare, Longchen Plaza. Her signature item is the pink bottom which took the Zimbabwean market by storm when it was launched.  She claims the shoes are made in Italy.

Pokello has had multiple endorsement deals. These include her role as the official face of Brands for Less, a high-end boutique located in Gunhill Harare as well as being the face of Ndeipi – Zviri Sei Sei t-shirt brand. She also has deals with Victory Co and Vault Cosmetics.

Big Brother Africa – The Chase

In 2013, Pokello auditioned and was admitted to represent Zimbabwe in the hit reality show Big Brother Africa. She had an interesting stay in the house, surviving eviction four times.  Although she did not win the price and was evicted in July 2013, Pokello had the consolation of meeting the love of her life on the show.

Marriage

The socialite got engaged to her former Ghanaian housemate on Big brother Africa, Elichem Kumoridze in May 2014.  Elichem went on one knee and popped the question live on air while presenting the Best Collaboration of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. When interviewed afterward, Pokello said- “Those who know me, will tell you I’m very shy. I never saw such a proposal coming and I went numb because of where we were all eyes on me!”.

 The young lady, however, managed to ruin her own moment by posting questions on Facebook and Twitter asking how people felt about the fact that whore could get married. This caused an outrage and got the public questioning her morals.

The two were joined in a traditional ceremony the following year, in 2015. Her stepfather also played a part in the ceremony. Elichem was charged a whopping $16 000 for the lobola/roora/bride price of his beautiful bride.

Alleged Affair

In June 2017, Pokello was accused of having an affair with a popular businessman and Harare Socialite, Tazvi ‘Chief J’ Mhaka. The controversy broke out when Nare was spotted in pictures of them on a yacht with the businessman who is known for being a womanizer despite the fact that he is married.  The two were at Mhaka’s birthday celebrations that were held in Cape Town in South Africa. The outrage was made worse by the fact that Pokello who is also not married, was not with her husband. Pokello denied these claims.

Latest Drama

Pokello was implicated in a scandal recently between her ex-boyfriend Stunner and his ex-wife Olinda. Olinda claimed to have been told by Trigger, the rapper’s close friend, that Stunner continued to sleep with Pokello long after Pokello was married to Elichem and Stunner himself was married to Olinda.
