The award winning Producer /Dj has been rated as one of the most respected talented music producers and Dj from Zimbabwe striving to put Zimbabwe on the map,
His musical journey began when he fell in love with house music from cds that his brother brought home one day compiled by the likes of Christos, Oskido and Glen Lewis back in 2006. From that point on he started collecting music until 2008 when he decided to learn how to produce it.
With the help of a next door neighbour who was familiar with the use of music production software, Skaiva began to make beats using Fruity loops and other soft wares. Around 2009, he released his first beats to the public via the internet and he was surprised when he got positive feedback.
In 2010, Skaiva began his deejaying career playing in clubs around his neighbourhood, in Mpopoma and at Esipotini in Entumbane township were he was playing as a resident dj. He later started to look for more opportunities from more prominent clubs Bulawayo like Club Forty 40 and Club Horizon. He later managed to secure a spot again as a resident deejay at a popular pub named Walker’s for the whole of 2011.
Skaiva continued his hustle producing beats from his bedroom studio and around that year he produced and released a tribal house track tilted Ndebele Rebels which became a hit in his home town being played at every club, party and wedding. He got his first radio airplay at Power FM when Ndebele rebels was played by Dj Themz. In the same year he met the talented Zimbabwean vocalist Rakeem and recorded tracks with him. One of the tracks, Day dreamer, was released by a South African Music Giant, Soul Candy Records under Funk Deep Star Album.
Dreamer became Skaiva’s international break as it became a huge hit in South Africa as well as in Zimbabwe where it was number 1 on YFM’s top 100 charts for three weeks. It got so much airplay on major South African radio stations such as MetroFM, 5FM, YFM, UKHOZI and Star FM and ZIFM in Zimbabwe. The track opened bigger doors for Skaiva as he started receiving attention both locally and internationally.
