All about Anne Nhira
Anne Nhira is a South African based Zimbabwean actress and producer who rose to fame because of her role as the main actress in Studio 263, a soapie that for years was a prime time staple on local television. In a production brimming with the best local acing talent, Nhira was the star, playing the intelligent and ambitious beauty queen, Vimbai Jari.
Coming from a modest, hardworking family that was typical of many around the country, it was easy for Zimbabweans to fall in love with her persona ‘Vimbai.’ which turned her into the country’s sweetheart.
As a result of the show, which aired in the early 2000s, Nhira has since been that beautiful, morally upright girl who, despite her supermodel looks, was defined by her strong sense of right and wrong. This was, until she wrote a letter to the Ministry of Tourism in August of 2017, criticising their
decision to hire Zodwa Wabantu to perform at the Harare International Carnival. As a result of the letter, the South African socialite and underwear dodging, Zodwa Wabantu was apparently banned from the carnival.
Career
After, Studio 263, the show which catapulted her acting career folded, Anne Nhira moved to South Africa where she opened her own production house, Anne Studios International. The company includes services like music production and talent training and the actress said she was going through exciting times as they were currently engaged with various African countries.
Apart from producing in her production company, Nhira also continues to act, study as well at her day job as a Quality Assurance and Risk Manager in one of the top SA wellness companies.
She has featured in a number of South African productions among them ‘The Rapist’ in 2012 and Zabalaza in 2014, one of South Africa’s biggest soap operas showed on MNet and SABC. She has also featured in a TV drama called Mutual Friends.
Nhira also claims to have co-produced a pilot for the tv series, In the Shadows. The show had a cast from different African countries. Apart from producing the series, Anne Nhira also acted in it.
The former, Zimbabwe sweetheart is currently single and seems to have been unlucky in love.
