Alois Moyo
Alois Moyo is a theater, film and TV actor, one of the co-founders of the first “African” Theater, the Amakhosi Township Square Cultural Center in Zimbabwe. Based in Germany since 2005 and has been featured in several movies.
Alois Moyo who was born on the 28th of October, 1966 is an actor, screenwriter and director who also co-founded the first “African” Theater, the Amakhosi Township Square Cultural Center in Zimbabwe. Based in Germany since 2005 and has been featured in several movies.
Career
The Amakhosi theatre center started in 1980 as a Karate-club and turned into a cultural institution in Zimbabwe with outstanding productions, national and international. As Home-Base-Coordinator Alois was responsible for the in-house-program with workshops for theatre, music and dance, improvisation and movement at ATSCC.
Since then Alois has played main roles in all Amakhosi Productions as well as roles in TV, film and radio in Zimbabwe, Europe and USA. In 1992, he got the chance to play an African boxer and freedom fighter in the American movie “Power of One” directed by John Avildsen as co-star beside Stephen Dorff and Daniel Craig.
After 18 years of silence, he began to participate in a few episodes of some television series including Verbotene Liebe participating in 5 episodes in 2010 – 2011 and three German films to Die Kaserei in Goldingen of which he is the protagonist. Also in 2012, he had a cameo in the film Iron Sky in the New Yorker of a taxi driver.
He says this kind of work is a task but also a privilege for him to share and pass on the richness of African culture just the way it is passed on traditionally from generation to generation in Africa…
