Babongile Skhonjwa
Babongile Skhonjwa is a nationally acclaimed comedian turned radio personality as well as a Zimbabwean socialite who is based in his home town Bulawayo. He is known for his incredible hosting skills at numerous functions like weddings, concerts, and award shows as well as the Bulawayo radio show VukaVuka Breakfast Show on Skyzmetro.
Babongile has also released tracks in the past before he decided to focus on hosting.
He came back into the spotlight recently when he comically got onto the ‘attack Anne Nhira train,’ by calling the South African Home Affairs asking them to send the actress back home. This was after, Zimbabwe’s sweetheart turned villain, wrote to the Ministry of Tourism, asking them not to allow Zodwa Wabantu to perform in the Harare International Carnival.
Business life
Apart from comedy and music, the ‘Ndebele Rockstar’ is also known for being a successful businessman although it hasn’t always been quite clear what he does. However, in June 2017, Skhonjwa came out with his new business venture in a café in Bulawayo. The café, which is named Red Café, borrows the style of South Africa’s News Café and is meant to attract young business people and corporate people to gather and talk business. In the evenings, the café will be turned into a pub.
Personal Life
In 2016, the socialite Babongile Sikhonjwa celebrated his 40th birthday in well-publicized party train which was attended by the whos who of Bulawayo and was dubbed the party of the year. The socialite surprised the guests and his long time girlfriend by popping the question, which was greeted by a beaming yes from the mother of one.
