Ndebele Chief and King Lobengula’s trusted Induna
Babyana was one of King Lobengula induna’s who seconded the King when he travelled to London, United Kingdom in the company of Johannes Colenbrander and another induna Mshete to meet with Queen Victoria on the kings behalf. Their purpose of the journey was to investigate and report to the king on the white men’s country and carry personal messages.
Babyana was one of the Chiefs that rebelled during the Matabele Rebellion (1896) who agreed to meet white Cecil J Rhodes at the Matopo Indaba of (1896).
