Ndebele Chief and King Lobengula’s trusted Induna
Chief Mshete was the second induna of King Lobengula who travelled to London, United Kingdom in 1890 with Chief Babyana in the company of their guide Johannes Colenbrander who also served as their interpreter to meet with Queen Victoria.
Their journey was organised in order to satisfy the kings curiosity with the white men and Queen, as well as to seek advice on the current situation and events in Matabeleland. In 1893 he travelled to Cape Town to meet with Sir Henry Loch on a peace mission in a bid to halt the impending Matabele War (1893)
