Elijah Banda was a Zimbabwean musician.
Banda’s music career began with him joining the group Little Negroes and the Springfields.
Later he formed the Great Sounds and was the lead singer and composer for the band. The Great Sounds became one of the most popular local bands in Rhodesia between 1969 and 1975. The band included famous artists like Manu Kambani and John Mlambo (popularly known as Chibhodhoro)
Some of the famous songs penned and recorded by the group include “Anopenga Anewaya” which in English translates to “He/She is mad and has a wire” and “Koni”
He retired from music in 1976
