Musician and Musical Icon
John Chibadura was born John Nyamukokoko in Mashonaland Central and grew up in peasant life environment spending most his early life tending to his fathers goats. After he left school he moved to Harare in the late 1970’s and found work as a truck driver.
He was enthused and well impressed with the music scene in Harare that he decided to try out career in performing. He first joined a musical group the Holy Brothers and after joined the Mother Band. In 1982 he was recruited, joined and performed with the Sungura Boys a sungura music grouping until he formed his own group the Tembo Brothers in 1985.
The Tembo Brothers found success and stardom with the release of their first and second albums Mudzimu Wangu and $5000 Kuroora Chete. John Chibadura and the Tembo Brothers toured various international destinations and continentally through out the longevity of his career.
Chibadura died in 1999 and left an everlasting legacy on the Zimbabwean music scene.
